Athlete of the Year
Each summer, Georgia Games honors athletes based on participation in the Georgia Games summer championship and other athletic achievements. The Georgia Games Athlete of the Year program was established to recognize individuals who excel above and beyond their athletic participation in the Georgia Games. Individuals are chosen based on overall achievements, involvement in the Georgia Games, involvement in their community, effort, sportsmanship, overcoming adversity and attitude on and off the field. Nominations can be submitted by coaches, commissioners, parents, volunteers, and even other players.
Categories for nominations are:
- Male Athlete 18 & younger
- Female Athlete 18 & younger
- Male Athlete 19 & older
- Female Athlete 19 & older
Applications must be submitted on line using the link above. All application must be submitted by August 1 at 5:00 p.m.
Nominees will be chosen and notified by August 15.
Nominees will be submitted for the National Athlete of the Year, and the National Congress of State Games will announce their National Athlete of the Year recipients by late September
Individuals who are chosen as Georgia Games Athlete of the Year will be submitted for recognition as the National State Games Athlete of the Year. If chosen as the National State Games Athlete of the Year, recipients will receive their award virtually at the National Congress of State Games award presentation held annually in the fall. National Athlete of the Year winners will be notified in September.
