On Saturday and Sunday last week, we held our 2026 championships for the road race, time trial, and criterium cycling events that the Georgia Games hosts! It was our 26th Anniversary, held in Calhoun and Marietta, where our cyclists got to put themselves to the test and trek through our 11-mile and 1-mile courses, taking the chance to become champions in their respective divisions.
Our team, with the guidance of director Eric Pfeifer, began hard at work organizing and preparing the locations where the races would take place days before riders arrived, with safety and rider efficiency at the top of our priority list. Designated booths for registration, hospitality, and award announcements were all made with the cyclists’ needs in mind to have a smooth ride and enjoyable time, such as water stations, food amenities, podiums where the top racers can take their photos, and much more!
The team, along with all spectators, had the opportunity to see the phenomenal dedication, endurance, and sportsmanship showcased by the cyclists, coming from across the region. From experienced competitors to novice riders, each participant contributed to what makes these events so special to us.
The Georgia Games would like to thank all cyclists, volunteers, staff members, spectators, and community partners who helped make the 2026 Cycling Championships possible. We wouldn’t have been able to do the things we do without your support.
Congratulations to all medalists and participants. We look forward to continuing the Georgia Games cycling tradition in future championships.
